Joseph G. Thompson 'Belong Here'

New Zealand-born, Germany-based artist Joseph G. Thompson is diving deep into themes of identity and belonging with his single Belong Here.

Formerly half of the acclaimed duo Joseph & Maia, Belong Here marks another step in Joseph’s evolution as a solo artist. Now, with his debut album on the way, he’s leaning into a more personal, reflective sound.

"This song is about a heavy sense of displacement I’ve felt in different periods of my life, and feeling like I’m not quite sure where ‘home’ is. I’ve always felt jealous of those in my life that feel content and grounded… one day I hope."

Now based in Europe with his young family, Joseph continues to carve out his solo path, with Belong Here offering an honest glimpse into the push-and-pull of finding where, and who, you truly are.

Joseph G. Thompson is a New Zealand-born, Germany-based singer-songwriter. With nearly 20 years of songwriting behind him, he first made his mark as one half of indie-folk duo Joseph & Maia before stepping into a solo career. Now creating from Europe alongside his wife and musical collaborator Maia, Joseph’s music combines introspective storytelling with raw, heartfelt themes of identity, displacement, and belonging.
