If anyone's life was made for a memoir, it's Tami Neilson's.

The country and soul powerhouse has announced Vocal, a new memoir packed with stories from a childhood spent touring North America with her family band, unexpected encounters with music legends and the winding road that eventually led her to New Zealand.

Brave, beautiful and entertaining as hell, Tami Neilson’s brilliant breakout memoir sparkles like a truckload of rhinestones but cuts like a diamond.

With tales that include breakfast with Roy Orbison, opening for Johnny Cash and accidentally joining a cult(!?), this isn't your typical musician's life story.

Raised as part of The Neilsons, Tami spent her early years travelling from town to town, growing up surrounded by music, performers and the unpredictable reality of life on the road. Those experiences gave her a front-row seat to the highs and lows of the entertainment industry long before she stepped into the spotlight herself.

But Vocal is about more than a remarkable childhood. The memoir also follows Tami's journey to New Zealand, where she arrived for love and found herself starting from scratch. Alongside building a family, she worked to establish herself as an artist, eventually becoming one of the country's most acclaimed country and soul performers.

This will be an unforgettable ride through a life that's been lived at full volume.

Vocal will be released in paperback, ebook and audiobook formats in April 2027.
