Luke Grimes has revealed the country music superstar he believes would be the perfect addition to Marshals, and he already has a villain role in mind.
The world of Taylor Sheridan dramas has become an increasingly familiar place for country music stars. From Lainey Wilson and Ryan Bingham to Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, plenty of artists have stepped away from the stage and onto the screen through projects connected to Yellowstone.
Now, Luke Grimes believes there’s another country music heavyweight who could make a memorable addition to the growing list of musician-turned-actors.
While promoting his CBS series Marshals, the actor and singer revealed that Chris Stapleton is at the top of his casting wish list, and he already knows exactly what kind of role he would like the country superstar to play.
Speaking in a recent interview with Woman’s World, Luke reflected on the growing connection between country music and the Taylor Sheridan television universe. When asked which artist he would most like to see join the cast of Marshals, he didn’t hesitate before naming the award-winning singer-songwriter.
“I always said I thought Chris Stapleton would play a really good bad guy. If he reads or hears this, we’d love for you to come on the show.”
The idea of Chris taking on a villainous role is certainly an intriguing one. While fans know him as one of country music’s most respected voices, the rugged look and commanding presence that have become part of his signature image could make him a convincing on-screen antagonist.
Luke’s comments come as Marshals continues embracing the tradition of welcoming country artists into the franchise. The latest example is Riley Green, who appeared during the first season in a multi-episode storyline that introduced viewers to Garrett, a former Navy SEAL with a complicated past.
Riley was not the only musician to make an appearance in the opening season. Ashley Cooke also featured in a brief cameo, performing her song Next To You in a bar scene during the second episode.
