TheWesternGuide is digging deep on his latest release, Truth I Keep, a raw and vulnerable collaboration with one of New Zealand country music's biggest names, Kaylee Bell.
The new single explores the fear that can come with opening up to someone you love. Written around themes of honesty, acceptance and the weight of past mistakes, the song follows the emotional journey of wondering whether revealing your deepest truths could change the way someone sees you.
“I think everyone has things in their past that they’re not necessarily proud of. You start wondering, if I told this person, what would they think of me? That was the feeling I wanted to capture with Truth I Keep,” says TheWesternGuide, also known as Aaron Pulemagafa.
The song begins from a place of uncertainty before Kaylee Bell's verse brings a sense of understanding and acceptance. Kaylee says joining the track was a full-circle moment after TheWesternGuide supported her on the Cowboy Up tour in 2025.
“From seeing Aaron open for me on the Cowboy Up tour in 2025 to now being on this track with him is such a special moment. He has a beautiful voice, and it’s great to add to his depth of storytelling and help tell this intricate, tragically beautiful love story,” says Kaylee.
Truth I Keep arrives as TheWesternGuide builds towards the release of his debut album, Poviboy, later this year. Produced by Christian Tjandrawinata and Jeremiah “Hales” Fale, the project explores identity, self-discovery and community.
