Emily Ann Roberts has shared a powerful message about holding onto hope, “even if you’re hanging on by a thread”.
The country star, 27, reflected on a years-long journey that led to the release of her five-track EP, Thread, on Friday.
Emily includes the title track as the opener to the collection, alongside Lonely Boy, Garden Grow, When I Do and Laundry on the Frank Rogers- and Derek Bason-produced EP. Emily teamed up with Jessi Alexander, Wyatt McCubbin and other songwriters to bring the project to life.
“Sometimes hope overflows and sometimes all that’s left to hang on to is a thread,” Emily wrote in a post on Instagram. “I’ve always wanted to run away as quickly as I could from a disappointing or discouraging season in my life. I just wanna get to the good stuff. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that the hard times are truly the most impactful in my life.
“Just the way he promises to, God uses those seasons for our good & his glory,” she wrote. “I’ve had so many dreams and plans that I’ve worked toward since Can’t Hide Country [her debut full-length album in 2023] released 3 years ago. Majority of them never came to be. I felt like I would take one step forward and 10 steps back over and over again.
“It’s easy to look at a bunch of tangled up moments of joy, heartache, hope, & discouragement and wonder how it will ever become anything of value. All it looks like in those seasons is a mess,” Emily shared. “This EP is the start of new chapter that I hope encourages you that even when life doesn’t look the way you wished it did, the dream is worth chasing, and hope is worth hanging on to. Even if you’re hanging on by a thread 🤍”
Emily launched her career as a teenager when she appeared on the ninth season of The Voice in 2015. The rising country artist competed on Blake Shelton’s team.
The Knoxville, Tennessee-born singer, a first-time nominee at next month’s Country Music Association Awards, is now known for songs including Laundry, Jack & Jill Daniel’s, Come Home to You, Memory Lane, The Building, Pretty In Pink and Whipped.
